On Tuesday, Batavia Police reported numerous reports of burglaries to unlocked motor vehicles occurring in the early morning hours. According to a news release, these incidents occurred in both the northwestern and the southwestern residential areas of Batavia. Specifically, residences in the Braeburn Subdivision and in the neighborhoods surrounding Millview Drive were targeted. BPD is currently pursuing a number of leads with respect to these cases. In order to apprehend the offenders, BPD is asking residents in the area with surveillance or doorbell cameras to check their camera footage for suspicious activity. A Kane County jury has convicted 42-year-old Serafin A. Castellanos of Oswego in the March 2017 murders of 35-year-old Jermaine Taylor and 57-year-old Anselmo Fernandez, both of Aurora. The Naperville Fire Department was called early Saturday morning to respond to a structure fire in a single-family residence located in the 300 block of Weatherford Lane in Naperville. At around 5:30 am, a general alarm assignment consisting of 10 pieces of fire apparatus and 24 personnel dispatched to the scene. Due to the extreme wind conditions, the alarm was immediately upgraded to a box alarm, which brought 5 more apparatus and an additional 14 firefighters to the fire. The Aurora Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance with locating 14-year-old Malina Olvera (left picture), and 15-year-old Juliana Compean (right picture). Both females were reported missing on Friday. They are believed to be with each other and possibly in the Joliet area (near Joliet Junior College). A Montgomery man died Thursday evening after being “entrapped” in a piece of machinery at Bar Technologies in Geneva. The man, 61 year-old Raymonde Escobar, was an employee at Geneva’s Bar Technologies, a steel fabricator located at 500 Fluid Power Drive in Geneva. According to authorities, Mr. Escobar was working when he became entangled in a machine and couldn’t extricate himself. Fellow workers eventually removed him from the machine and he was rushed to Northwestern Delnor Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Subsequently, Mr. Escobar was transported to the Kane County morgue where an autopsy was performed on Friday. The…
