Update: According to Aurora police, the suspect in Sunday morning’s shooting turned himself in at the Aurora Police Station with family members at approximately 3:00am today. The suspect was taken into custody and has been charged with Attempted First Degree Murder (two counts); Aggravated Battery with a Firearm (two counts); Unlawful Possession of Firearm by Repeat Felony Offender (one count); and Unlawful Possession of Firearm by a Felon (one count). Two men are in hospital, one in critical condition, after being shot on Aurora’s east side Sunday morning. At approximately 6:08am Sunday, Aurora Police officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 500 block of Station Boulevard where they found two male victims near the basketball court, both suffering from gunshot wounds. Aurora Fire Department paramedics transported the victims to local hospitals for treatment. A 19-year-old male victim was reported to have non-life-threatening injuries, and a 20-year-old male victim remains in critical condition. A 23-year-old Aurora woman has been sentenced to 4 years in prison after pleading guilty to killing a man in a car crash while she was intoxicated. On January 23, Darci L. Klomhaus pled guilty to the offense of Aggravated Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, a Class 2 felony. Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie L. Mosser announced yesterday that Judge Julia Yetter has sentenced Klomhaus to four years of imprisonment in the Illinois Department of Corrections. A private aircraft experiencing mechanical difficulties was forced to land at The Highlands of Elgin golf course Wednesday evening. According to the Elgin Police Department, at approximately 8:20pm Wednesday evening, the Federal Aviation Administration notified the department that a small private plane was preparing to make an emergency landing at the Highlands of Elgin golf course in Elgin due to mechanical issues. Elgin Police and Fire Department personnel responded and located the aircraft, which appeared to have successfully landed. Upon contact with the occupants no injuries were reported. Approximately 400 people were evacuated from the sprawling Q Center in St. Charles this morning in response to a potential bomb threat, according to St. Charles police. At approximately 7:15am this morning, St. Charles police officers responded to a report of a potential bomb threat at the Q-Center hotel and convention complex at 1405 North 5th Avenue in St. Charles. In a freak accident, a 49-year-old Minnesota woman was struck and killed by a vehicle in the parking lot of Wahlburgers in St. Charles last week. The tragedy occurred just prior to a 5th anniversary celebration of Wahlburgers’ opening at the location. On Sunday, July 27, at approximately 12:58pm, the St. Charles Police and Fire Departments were dispatched to the Wahlburgers parking lot in the 800 block of South Randall Road for a traffic crash in which a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle. A 10-year-old Montgomery boy was tragically killed Thursday when he was hit by a car while crossing Route 30 in Montgomery. According to police, at around 8:00pm Thursday a vehicle traveling westbound on Route 30 struck the child who was crossing the street (northbound) from a local business in the 1900 block of Baseline in Montgomery. The child, identified as Vincente Poban, age 10, was transported to Rush Copley Hospital and, shortly after arrival, airlifted to Loyola Hospital in critical condition. A mysterious shower of bricks falling from the exterior of a building in downtown Aurora resulted in the evacuation of occupants and the closure of East Galena Boulevard between Broadway and Lincoln Avenue. The Aurora Police Department and the Aurora Fire Department were called to 104 East Galena Boulevard yesterday to investigate bricks falling from the side of the building onto the sidewalk and street. Residents from 102 and 104 East Galena Boulevard were evacuated as emergency responders worked to assess the structure. A St. Charles man , Robert S. Lord, was sentenced to seven years in prison in exchange for a guilty plea to the offenses of Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding a Peace Officer, a Class 3 felony, and Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, a Class A misdemeanor. According to prosecutors, on September 15, 2024, police officers were dispatched to a Kane County residence for a domestic dispute.
