A 16-year-old is in hospital after being shot near a park on Aurora’s East side Thursday evening.
According to police, just before 5:50pm Thursday evening officers were called to the 2800 block of Village Green Drive after receiving reports of a gunshot victim near a park filled with children playing. When officers arrived, they located a 16-year-old with a gunshot wound to a lower extremity. The teen was transported to a nearby hospital and is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Multiple specialized units including APD K-9 Unit, Special Operations Group, Community Oriented Policing Unit, and Special Response Team immediately responded to the scene to assist in securing the area and searching for those involved.
No subjects are yet in custody.
