Aurora police successfully negotiated the surrender Wednesday morning of a suspect in a drive-by shooting after a nearly 8 hour stand-off, during which the suspect remained barricaded in a residence.
According to police, around 1:30am Wednesday, officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert reporting multiple gunshots in the 100 block of South Fifth Street in Aurora. The officers located a vehicle and nearby home that had been struck by gunfire.
No one was hit by the gunfire, and no injuries have been reported.
A short time later, a vehicle believed to be involved in the shooting was located near the 300 block of South Kendall Street. Several individuals fled from the vehicle, and one suspect barricaded himself inside a residence.
Negotiators and tactical officers on-scene worked until approximately 9:42am to bring the situation to a safe resolution. The siege ended peacefully, with the suspect surrendering to authorities at that time.
The suspect faces aggravated discharge of a firearm charges, with additional charges likely to come.
