A homeless man was arrested Wednesday after brandishing a gun on Elgin’s northeast side. At 4:10pm Elgin police officers responded to the 300 block of Purdue Lane after a report of a man brandishing a weapon. A description of the man was provided to responding officers who located a subject matching the description a short distance away. A gun was located on the man and he was taken into custody. Two teenage males, ages 17 and 15, are in custody after being arrested for the alleged sexual assault of a female acquaintance in the bathroom of a Naperville Walgreens. DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin and Naperville Chief of Police Jason Arres announced today that the two teens, both from Lisle, have been charged with multiple counts of sexual assault. Oswego police continue to investigate a robbery of a local fast-food restaurant on Route 34 early Friday morning. According to police, at approximately 5:54am officers responded to a report of a burglary that had already occurred at the Burger King location in the 2300 block of Route 34. The call was made by an employee who discovered the incident while opening the business. Officers cleared the premises and observed that a door to the business had been forced open. An 18-year-old Aurora man has been sentenced to 6 years in prison following a narcotics and firearms investigation in the 1200 block of Gates Street in Aurora that resulted in the seizure of illegal drugs and multiple weapons, including a fully automatic firearm. A driver was hospitalized and an Illinois State Police (ISP) squad car was damaged on I-88 near Naperville Thursday when the driver’s vehicle struck the squad car during a traffic crash investigation. An Aurora man has been sentenced to 90 years in prison after being convicted of murder and attempted murder related to a gang-related shooting incident in September 2022. Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie L. Mosser announced today that Judge Barsanti has sentenced 27-year-old Samuel Garcia of Aurora to 90 years of imprisonment for the offenses of first-degree murder (a class M felony) and attempt first-degree murder (a class X felony). A 19-year-old Oswego man is in custody after being arrested for his alleged involvement in a violent robbery involving a group of assailants on a Chicago Transit Authority train last October. According to authorities, the suspect was part of a larger group who, on October 12 of last year, physically assaulted and robbed a 23-year-old man near the 69th Street CTA station on Chicago’s south side. The suspect was arrested Tuesday in Oswego, and has been charged with felony counts of aggravated battery of transit passenger and robbery. Police have provided no further details of the incident.
Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie Mosser has cleared a Batavia police officer and two Kane County sheriff’s deputies of any wrongdoing related to an incident this summer that resulted in the death of a a suspect, 39-year-old Michael J. Seidelman.
