An Aurora man is in custody charged with numerous felonies after his vehicle allegedly swerved into an oncoming lane on Randall Road Saturday evening, initiating a head-on collision that took the life of a 71-year-old Geneva woman and critically injuring her 26-year-old son. According to a report from WGN, the body located in the Fox River Wednesday evening is that of Amanda Flick, 41, of St. Charles. A preliminary autopsy indicated that the cause of death was drowning, pending further investigation. The investigation into Flick’s death is ongoing. A 41-year-old Hampshire man is in custody after allegedly removing a 9-year-old girl from her bike, forcing her into a van and sexually assaulting her. The defendant has been charged with Aggravated Kidnapping, a Class X felony; Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault, a Class X felony; Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse, a Class 2 felony; and Sexual Exploitation of a Child, a Class A misdemeanor. Multiple outlets are reporting that a deceased body was found in the Fox River in St. Charles Township Wednesday evening. According to ABC News, a boater spotted the body at around 5:30pm. The Kane County Sheriff’s office is conducting a death investigation in cooperation with the Kane County Coroner, who will be performing an autopsy to determine cause of death. A 19-year-old Carpentersville man (17 years of age at the time of the crime) has been found guilty of murder in the 2023 drive-by shooting death of another 17-year-old male. Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie Mosser announced that yesterday Judge D.J. Tegeler found Jimmy Medina guilty of First-Degree Murder (a Class M felony) and Attempt First-Degree Murder (a Class X felony). Medina waived his right to a jury trial. Update: According to police, on Sunday at approximately 3:00pm a missing person report was filed at the Elgin Police Department regarding a male subject who closely matched the description of the male who went into the Fox River. Photos were shown to the family, and he was tentatively identified as being the same individual involved in Friday’s incident. Scheduled recovery efforts by the Elgin Fire and Police Departments will continue throughout the week. A 53-year-old Chicago man has been sentenced to 20 years stabbing his girlfriend eleven times in a Naperville hotel room in 2022. DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin announced Monday that Willie Tidwell, formerly of the 300 block of West North Avenue in Chicago, has been sentenced to twenty years in the Illinois Department of Corrections by Judge Margaret O’Connell.
