Two Aurora men have been arrested and charged after a man suffered a gunshot wound to his arm. Authorities believe the incident was related to drug activity. Just after 09:54pm on Sunday, a victim suffering a single gunshot wound to their left arm was found in the 300 Block of West Downer Place. After the preliminary investigation, detectives identified and arrested two male suspects, aged 42 and 44, respectively, both from Aurora. Further investigation indicated the two were involved in drug-related activity during which the victim got shot. The victim is in stable condition. The Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office…

The Aurora Uke Fest (formally City of Lights Ukulele Festival) will return to Downtown Aurora as a live event on August 21st, 2022, from 11 am to 6 pm showcasing the City of Aurora, IL and surrounding businesses. In 2018, an argument between a customer and an employee at a Bloomingdale spa resulted in the customer pulling out a handgun and fatally shooting the 29-year-old employee. The customer, 63-year-old Donald Pelka, will likely spend the rest of his life in an Illinois prison as he was sentenced this week to 50 years incarceration. Following a five-day-long trial and after approximately two hours of deliberations, a jury found Pelka guilty of First-Degree Murder on June 26. Concours d’Elegance organizers have informed the City of Geneva that they are cancelling the 2022 car show that was originally scheduled to take place Sunday, Aug. 28. Concours, one of five events designated as a festival in Geneva, is an annual show that draws thousands of visitors to downtown Geneva to see an impressive lineup of antique, classic and modern cars. Alley Art Festival will expand its footprint in downtown Aurora this year. The popular, grassroots art festival will be back on Water Street Mall and is expanding to Downer Place between Stolp Avenue and Water Street.
