A Glen Ellyn man and an Oak Park man have both been charged with Drug Induced Homicide for supplying a lethal dose of fentanyl that resulted in the death of 29-year-old Margaret McCabe of unincorporated Clarendon Hills in November 2021. On November 5, 2021, the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call of an unresponsive female, later identified as McCabe, in unincorporated Clarendon Hills. The call was placed by a family member. McCabe was immediately transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced deceased. The Illinois State Police conducted a firearms enforcement blitz with details in all 102 counties across the state from June 16 through July 31, 2022, resulting in over 1,000 people being brought into compliance.
