A Kane County jury has found 26-year-old Chicago man Travaris D. Stevenson guilty of the felony offenses of first-degree murder, second-degree murder and armed violence in the April 2018 shooting deaths of Raymond Dyson and Mark McDaniel, both of Elgin. Kane County Assistant State’s Attorneys Greg Sams, Hillary Sadler and Hannah Thayer presented evidence that at about 2 p.m. April 29, 2018, Stevenson and the co-defendant met Dyson, 29, and McDaniel, 26, in a parking lot in the 1-99 block of Longwood Place in Elgin. Stevenson traveled from Chicago to Elgin to sell a pound of marijuana to the victims.…

The Aurora Police Department has released the squad video of a traffic stop last Friday afternoon after a portion of the incident appeared on social media over the weekend, causing an uproar over allegations of police brutality. That footage, captured via a cell phone, depicted the end of the confrontation, wherein the police officers are seen physically restraining the driver of the car and its passenger in order to take them into custody. The St. Charles Police issued a public request today in an attempt to identify a package thief caught on video recently in St. Charles. It is the second such incident caught on video surveillance and any information would be useful. According to the department, on Wednesday, November 3, 2021, at about 2 p.m., an unknown female suspect removed a package from a porch located in the 300 block of S. 7th Street. U.S. Department of Labor Awards City with HIRE Vets Gold Medallion Award For the fourth consecutive year, the U.S. Department of Labor has presented the City of St. Charles with the HIRE Vets Gold Medallion Award. The award recognizes the City for employing military veterans, and is part of the Honoring Investments in Recruiting and Employing American Military Veterans Act of 2017 (HIRE Vets Act).
