The Kane County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a missing, mentally-challenged individual who wandered away from his home at approximately 4:00am in the 1600 block of Reckinger Rd in Aurora Township. The missing person is Cordell Wilson, male, black, 51 years of age, 5’10” / 170 lbs / black hair and brown eyes. Cordell has autism and schizophrenia. In the space of a few hours earlier this month, the Illinois State Police (ISP) issued citations or made arrests for traffic-related violations 10 times at a roadside safety check (RSC) at Illinois Route 31 just south of Middle Road in Elgin. According to an ISP press release, this included 1 DUI and 3 other alcohol or drug-related offenses. The other offenses were primarily registration or license-related. A convicted child sex offender has been arrested and charged after he sexually assaulted a young woman in Aurora just two days after being released from prison. On August 21st, Aurora Police officers responded to an Aurora hospital for a report of a sexual assault that had already occurred. Detectives immediately began investigating and learned the 18-year-old victim had been sexually assaulted by a family acquaintance while he visited Aurora.
