DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert B. Berlin announced Tuesday that Garrett Mercado, 32, of 2346 Cambridge Lane, Woodridge, had been sentenced to twenty days in the DuPage County Jail after being found guilty of three counts of Animal Cruelty, a Class A Misdemeanor and six counts of Violation of Owner’s Duties, a Class B Misdemeanor, following a five-day-long bench trial. APD has arrested a man after he drove an SUV taken in a carjacking in Chicago to Aurora and attempted to carjack another person on Tuesday afternoon. Just after 12:45 p.m., Aurora Police’s 911 Center was notified that a Porsche SUV taken in a carjacking in Chicago was potentially on the west side of Aurora near I-88 and Orchard. A new agreement between the agencies will allow them to work together, on both sides of the counties’ boundaries, to go after the sources and suppliers of opioids and fentanyl being pushed into our communities.
