Seven years ago this month, East Aurora High School graduate and United States Marine Corps Corporal Sara Medina died in action while serving on a humanitarian aid relief mission in central Nepal. After a devastating earthquake struck Nepal in May 2015, the U.S. military deployed a Joint Humanitarian Assistance Team to the mountainous country to aid the thousands suffering from the disaster. Unfortunately, on the afternoon of May 12, 2015, the helicopter transporting two Nepali soldiers and six U.S. Marines crashed eight miles north of Charikot, Nepal, killing all on board, including Cpl. Batavia police are investigating a break-in and robbery of a local plumbing business last night. According to owner Jeremy Shouse, two men using a UHaul broke into River City Plumbing, located in the 1100 block of Paramount Parkway in Batavia, Tuesday around midnight.
