The National Weather Service in Chicago is warning of expected severe thunderstorms coming through the Fox Valley this afternoon. According to the report, scattered thunderstorms are expected late this afternoon into this evening, a few of which could be severe. If storms do become severe, damaging winds of 60+ mph and large hail (size of half dollars) would be the primary threats. The NWS is stating that the most likely timing for any severe weather will be between 3 pm and 10 pm.

According to the West Chicago Police, the suspect in this morning’s stabbing incident has been identified and is currently at large. Officers have located and recovered the weapon used by the suspect, who is identified as 34-year- old Sergio Miranda-Medina. He may also be using the name Rigoberto Urbina. He is described as a male, Hispanic, 6 feet tall, short black hair, wearing blue jeans and possibly a blue baseball hat. He was last seen on foot heading southeast from the area. Aurora Police detectives have arrested a 25-year-old Naperville man and charged him with drug-induced homicide after he provided drugs to a young man that resulted in his death. On October 2nd, 2020, Aurora Police officers responded to a 911 call for a report of a 24-year-old man unconscious and not breathing in a house in the 200 block of South Commonwealth Avenue. Officers found 24-year-old Austin Bank deceased in an upstairs bedroom. As a result of an autopsy by the Kane County Coroner’s Office, detectives learned that the victim’s cause of death was a combined fentanyl and ketamine intoxication. Through…

The Village of West Dundee has held a Memorial Day Parade every year since the end of World War II. Not this year. Citing what West Dundee police called “public safety,” the parade, which traditionally has gone down Route 72 in the heart of the village, was originally going to be re-routed onto neighborhood streets. This was in response to the mass killing in Waukesha, Wisconsin last year where a driver plowed through the crowd, killing 6 and injuring 62 others. Mosser announces that Kane County police agencies will work with the State’s Attorney’s Office on an impaired driving abatement initiative this Memorial Day weekend. The initiative, called a No-Refusal operation, is designed to help police efforts to obtain a search warrant for individuals who refuse to submit to chemical testing after a DUI arrest. At about 4:30 p.m. on June 18, 2019, Carpentersville police responded to a call regarding someone with a gun near Berkshire Circle and Wakefield Drive. When the two officers arrived, Carpentersville resident Jose M. Cervantes pulled a handgun from his waistband and fired multiple shots at the officers inside the police vehicle. At least five bullets struck the police vehicle and one bullet struck a nearby house. One of the officers fired back at Cervantes, who then ran away.
