An Elgin man is wanted by police in connection with a shooting incident in McHenry early Monday morning. 27-year-old Lewis C. McCracken of Elgin has been charged with Attempted Murder, Aggravated Battery and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon in relation to an incident that occurred in Huntley in the early morning hours of Monday, July 18. The City of Elgin has had a difficult record on the past few years when it comes to gunfire incidents. Last year, the city set a record with 66 such incidents, eclipsing the previous record of 64 set in 2016. Two men, one believed to be armed, carjacked a pick-up truck in Bartlett in the early evening yesterday, leading to a massive manhunt involving multiple law enforcement agencies. Three people were killed dead and two others injured after a shooter opened fire in the food court of a Greenwood, Indiana, shopping mall Sunday evening, police say. Greenwood is a suburb of Indianapolis. According to Greenwood Police Department Chief Jim Ison, around 6:00 pm, multiple people called 911 to report an active shooter at the Greenwood Park Mall. Whether it was just an incredibly stupid prank in this age of mass shootings or something more sinister, the Aurora Police Department couldn’t have been too happy Saturday evening. At 7:30pm, APD’s 911 Center received a call reporting a disturbance at the Chicago Premium Outlets. The caller said an offender was barricaded in a store with a victim. APD responded, attempted to make contact, but ultimately had to force entry into the store, only to find no one inside.
