An early-morning car theft in Elgin Township led to a car crash and a five-jurisdiction search for multiple juveniles suspected in the crime. At approximately 5:30 a.m. on Thursday, Kane County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the 1000 block of Woodcliff Drive in Unincorporated Elgin Township for a report of a stolen black BMW. The mystery of the fire that prompted a wave of nostalgia and sadness throughout the tri-cities has apparently been solved. Two male juveniles have been charged with starting the three-alarm fire at the former Pheasant Run resort on North Avenue earlier this year. Two additional male juveniles have each been charged with trespassing at the resort as well. According to Naperville police, a masked man armed with a knife accosted a victim in a parking on the city’s southwest side. On Tuesday evening at approximately 9:15 p.m., Naperville Police officers were dispatched to the 2700 block of Fitness Drive to a report of an armed robbery. The preliminary investigation indicated that a masked man, armed with a knife, approached a victim in a parking lot and robbed the victim of cash and personal items. St. Charles Mayor And Aldermen Sound Off On Proposals For Developing Riverside Property That Housed Former Police Station On Monday, the St. Charles City Council heard four proposals for developing the site of the former police station at 211 North Riverside Avenue. The City of Naperville issued a statement Monday providing a partial explanation for the failure of the city’s outdoor warning sirens failed to go off as an EF-0 tornado touched down on the city’s southwest side. The statement first explained that the sirens are triggered by tornado warnings issued by the National Weather Service and that, initially, the NWS did not issue such a warning. An Aurora man was shot and killed during a family dispute overnight. Just after 1:40 a.m., Aurora’s 911 Telecommunications Center received a call of a person shot inside a home in the 1800 block of West Illinois Avenue. Officers found a man in the basement suffering from a gunshot wound. Aurora Fire paramedics transported the man to an area hospital in critical condition. Despite efforts by paramedics and emergency room staff, the man was pronounced dead.
