Two people died and one was critically injured in a three-vehicle crash early this morning at the intersection of Kirk and Fabyan in Geneva.   The Geneva Police and Fire departments responded to the accident, which was initially discovered by West Chicago Police at around 12:45am. The preliminary investigation indicates a 2016 Dodge Charger was traveling westbound on Fabyan Parkway and violated a red traffic light at Kirk Road. A DuPage County woman who shot and killed her boyfriend of 8 years in March 2020 has been released by DuPage County State’s Attorney Bob Berlin. The charge of First-degree murder against her has been officially dropped. On the evening of March 17, 2020, police were called to a home in the the 6s100 block of Lakewood Drive and found Nicarro Laroy Drake with a fatal gunshot wound. An Aurora man has been charged with First-degree murder in the brutal beating death of Isidro Nevarez, also of Aurora. Earlier this month, the 33-year-old subject allegedly struck the 68-year-old Nevarez multiple times in the head with a blunt object, killing him. The alleged offense took place at a Grove Street residence. The accused then stole Nevarez’s pick-up truck, as well as credit cards issued to Nevarez, which he used at several locations. Early in the morning of Aug. 22, 2020, a man allegedly shot and killed 41-year-old Francisco Trujillo-Uscanga of Elgin, while seriously injuring another man, at a traffic light in Elgin. The suspect, a 23-year-old man from Lake in the Hills, has now been indicted by a Grand jury on charges including 2 counts of First-degree murder, Attempted first-degree murder (Class X felony), Armed violence (Class X felony) and Unlawful possession of a weapon by a street gang member (Class 2 felony). Elgin police used almost every tool available – including K9’s, drones and air support – to corner and then arrest a subject wanted by a “neighboring agency” Wednesday evening. At approximately 5:55pm, Elgin police officers identified a subject in the 1000 block of Summit St whom they recognized as being a subject wanted by a neighboring agency. When approached by officers, the subject fled in a vehicle and subsequently crashed the vehicle in the 1200 block of Coldspring Rd. In a unanimous vote, the Aurora city council gave final approval to a redevelopment agreement that will move Hollywood Casino from its current downtown location to a sprawling new complex to be built on city land directly across Farnsworth Avenue from the Chicago Premier Outlets mall. During a rowdy session which saw at least two protestors removed from the chamber, the council approved the plan which calls for the city to raise $50 million in general obligation bonds for development of the new site. Aurora Downtown will host its annual Trick or Treat Downtown event from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29. Costumes are encouraged, and all ages and abilities are welcome.
