A Batavia man has been charged with possessing and distributing multiple images and videos of children being sexually abused. The 29-year-old man has been charged with 20 counts each of Reproducing child pornography, a Class X felony, and Possessing child pornography, a Class 2 felony. The activity alleged in the charges occurred between July 2022 and November 2022, according to prosecutors. Judge Salvatore LoPiccolo issued a warrant for the suspect’s arrest and set his bail at $100,000 with 10 percent ($10,000) to apply for bond. The identity of a 4-year-old child killed in a suspected DUI-related crash near Maple Park on October 1 has been released by authorities. The Crisis Intervention Unit of the Aurora Police Department recently was granted nearly $300,000 by the United States Department of Justice’s Office of Community Oriented Policing Services. The 2022 Community Policing Crisis Intervention Unit grant, which totals $294,657.51, was awarded to the CIU, and will go towards implementing projects that help achieve a greater goal of reducing crime and building trust between community members and law enforcement.
