A Batavia man has been charged with possessing and distributing multiple images and videos of children being sexually abused. The 29-year-old man has been charged with 20 counts each of Reproducing child pornography, a Class X felony, and Possessing child pornography, a Class 2 felony. The activity alleged in the charges occurred between July 2022 and November 2022, according to prosecutors. Judge Salvatore LoPiccolo issued a warrant for the suspect’s arrest and set his bail at $100,000 with 10 percent ($10,000) to apply for bond. The identity of a 4-year-old child killed in a suspected DUI-related crash near Maple Park on October 1 has been released by authorities. In a press release earlier today, the Kane County Sheriff’s Office stated: “After speaking with the family, the Kane County Sheriff’s Office is releasing the identity of the victim [of the crash]: Paiytn Moore, 4 years old, of DeKalb, IL.” The driver of the vehicle that caused the accident on Route 38 near Maple Park has been charged with multiple crimes related to driving under the influence of drugs, including reckless homicide. The Crisis Intervention Unit of the Aurora Police Department recently was granted nearly $300,000 by the United States Department of Justice’s Office of Community Oriented Policing Services. The 2022 Community Policing Crisis Intervention Unit grant, which totals $294,657.51, was awarded to the CIU, and will go towards implementing projects that help achieve a greater goal of reducing crime and building trust between community members and law enforcement. The grant funding will be used by the department to enhance and extend the Crisis Intervention Unit’s co-response services. The unit was created in 2020 in response to a growing need for crisis…

The Village of Oswego Christmas Walk kicks off the holiday season in downtown Oswego from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 2.   ​The free event features performances by local choirs, rides on the Toyland train, Santa’s reindeer, live ice sculpting, an inflatable sled hill, the Village’s annual tree lighting performance and an emergency vehicle light parade.
