A campaign by trans-rights groups to force Onesti Entertainment and the City of Des Plaines to cancel a one-night rental of the Des Plaines Theatre to Awake Illinois, a child welfare advocacy group based in Naperville, has succeeded. Yesterday, Ron Onesti, the President and CEO of Onesti Entertainment, which leases the theatre building from the City of Des Plaines, issued a statement announcing that the contract for the February 8 event “Coalition for Kids” had been cancelled. The City of Elgin is hosting the annual Daddy Daughter Dance at the Heritage Ballroom, 100 Symphony Way, Elgin on February 17th and February 18th, 2023 at 6:30 p.m. The 2023 Daddy Daughter Dance theme is Disney’s Tangled and will feature props and decorations from the 2010 hit film. An Aurora man was kill last Friday when his car crashed into a cement pillar supporting a railroad overpass on South Broadway in Aurora. According to a police press release, on January 13, 2023, at approximately 2:16 a.m., the Aurora Police Department responded to a report of an accident with injuries at the intersection of South Broadway Street and East Benton Street. A wild series of events in St. Charles Friday culminated in the arrest of a 32-year-old Elgin man who was found locked in a gas station bathroom in the 300 block of West Main Street in St. Charles. The incident started Friday morning around 6:30am when a Kane County Sheriff’s Office Lieutenant attempted to stop a Silver Ford Escape for traffic violations in the area of Randall and Crane Road in Saint Charles. On Tuesday at approximately 5 p.m., Naperville Police responded to a report of a suspicious incident that occurred earlier that afternoon. “The Killer,” a Netflix noir thriller from Golden Globes winner and Oscar nominee director David Fincher (Gone Girl) that was partially filmed in St. Charles last March, has finally been give a release date: November 10. A pivotal scene in the movie, which stars Award-winning actor Michael Fasbender (of X-Men fame) and Oscar-winner Tilda Swinton (Chronicles of Narnia), was filmed at the Hotel Baker. According to a press release from the Illinois State Police, a 27-year-old Chicago woman was killed early Wednesday morning in a car crash on westbound I-88 near Mitchell Road, Aurora. According to the ISP, at around 3:30am Wednesday, the woman was driving a 2018 Chevrolet Malibu westbound on I-88 when she struck the rear end of a 2005 red Peterbilt truck tractor, driven by Alberto R.
