Approximately 50 protestors joined together on the Main Street Bridge in St. Charles Sunday holding signs and interacting with drivers in a show of support for Wayne resident Joe Petit and his dog Ludwig, whose death by shooting at the hands of his neighbor, Hal Phipps, has triggered a surprisingly large reaction throughout the Fox Valley. Police are searching for a red pick-up truck that was involved in what appears to be a traffic-related shooting on Randall Road in Elgin. On Friday at approximately 11:58 a.m., Elgin police officers responded to Randall Road and Auto Mall Drive for a report of shots fired. The preliminary investigation revealed that a red pickup truck was traveling southbound on Randall Road when it stopped abruptly in the roadway, causing the victim vehicle behind it to slam to a halt. A 22 year-old man was killed Thursday as the motorcycle he was riding apparently ran off the road on Naper Boulevard in Naperville. On Thursday at approximately 5:59 p.m., the Naperville Police Department and the Naperville Fire Department responded to the area of Naper Boulevard south of Stoney Brook Drive for a single motorcycle crash involving injuries. According to the Elgin police department, a male subject armed with what appeared to be a handgun successfully robbed an Elgin business in the 700 block of Walnut Avenue early this morning. At approximately 6:40 a.m., officers responded to a report of an armed robbery at that location. According to the report, a male subject, apparently wielding a handgun, had entered the establishment and demanded money from the clerk. The clerk complied and the suspect took the currency and exited the location. The clerk was not injured during this incident. An Aurora man is facing two felony charges after Naperville Police arrested him for being in possession of a stolen vehicle and an illegal handgun. On Monday, Sept. 13, 2021 Naperville Police performed a routine registration check on an occupied vehicle at a business in the 1900 block of Brookdale Road and discovered that it had been reported stolen by the owner a short time ago.
