An Aurora man is facing two felony charges after Naperville Police arrested him for being in possession of a stolen vehicle and an illegal handgun.

On Monday, Sept. 13, 2021 Naperville Police performed a routine registration check on an occupied vehicle at a business in the 1900 block of Brookdale Road and discovered that it had been reported stolen by the owner a short time ago. One subject was taken into custody, and a second subject fled on foot. Police conducted a thorough search of the area but were unable to locate the second subject, who is described as a black male in his early 20’s with an athletic build, wearing light-colored jeans and a black t-shirt. A search of the stolen vehicle resulted in the recovery of an illegal handgun.

A 20 year-old Aurora man is charged with one felony count of possession of stolen motor vehicle and one felony count of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon. He was transported to the DuPage County Jail to await a bond hearing.

The second man remains at large.

If anyone has additional information regarding this investigation, they are encouraged to contact the Naperville Police Department at (630) 420-6666 and ask for the Investigations Division.
