4 FOR THE WEEKEND
where our New Year’s resolutions are always more like guidelines.
So let’s get to it, starting with…..
Midnight Approaches For Cinderella
It’s been a lovely run, but the clock is about to chime midnight, and Cinderella’s coach is about to turn into a pumpkin.
Now admit it, you don’t get that kind of penetrating metaphor just anywhere, are we right?
Where were we?
Oh yes, The Paramount Theatre’s magical production of Cinderella: The Musical comes to a close this weekend, with it’s final performance at 5:30pm on Sunday.
If you haven’t seen it yet, shame on you. But you’ve got one more shot at it, since there are 5 performances remaining (Friday, 2 on Saturday, 2 on Sunday). Tickets are available but limited for most shows, so hurry!

If It Doesn’t Include “Mr. Blotto,” It’s Not A Party
One of the (many) nice things about the Arcada Theatre in St. Charles is that you get the most abrupt u-turns imaginable in terms of the style of acts that play there every weekend.
Think Tiny Tim and MegaDeath for a Friday-Saturday lineup.
This weekend, its Mr. Blotto taking the stage Friday, followed by Kashmir, a premier Zepplin cover band.
Regardless of your taste, either band will generate a lot of heat on what’s going to be a cooollllldddd weekend.

And Now For Something Completely Different…
Speaking of genre whiplash, The Venue on Aurora isn’t far behind.
Take this weekend…please! (Sorry.)
On Friday, the Venue becomes a Neil Young lovefest, with the entire show dedicated to his album Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere.
Then, on Saturday comes along the feel-good, positive R&B sounds of Ralph Covert & The Bad Examples. Talk about smiling and grooving, these guys can’t seem to stop either.
So take your pick. And maybe get a neck brace for that whiplash.

And Finally…
For the more refined amongst you, the magnificent Elgin Symphony has you covered.
A little Wagner (Overture to The Flying Dutchman), a little Brahms (Symphony #2, The Pastoral), and Clara Shumann’s
Piano Concerto, op.7, A minor, performed by guest soloist Schaghajegh Nosrati.
A pretty wonderful lineup, wouldn’t you agree?

OK, we’ve got to be honest. This weekend’s weather won’t be, to put it mildly, conducive to human life. Particularly Friday, where we’ll all spend the entire day in single digits and sub-zero wind chills. Things improve from the temperature perspective on Saturday and Sunday, with highs back in the upper 20s, but Saturday afternoon/evening will see some of that classic “flying slush” that arises when the weather gods can’t make up their minds between snow, sleet and rain. Sunday appears to be habitable. As ever, plan accordingly.
If, for whatever reason, none of our fabulous four events doesn’t pop your cork, we’ll be very insulted. However, all hope is not lost. Simply go to www.foxvalleymagazine.com and check out our A+E and Events sections for other ideas.
Finally, please do us a favor. We would be eternally grateful if you could share this with some of your unsuspecting family, friends and neighbors. We’d also appreciate some love on our Facebook page (see below). Ok, technically it’s a “LIKE,” but don’t be pedantic. Also, that’s actually two favors. We’ll owe you.
Thanks for reading. Until next time…OH! One more thing. If you’re reading this via the website and would like to have this emailed to you bright and early every Friday morning, please SUBSCRIBE!
