A planned sales transaction of a motorcycle arranged through Facebook Marketplace went awry Sunday evening when the motorcycle was stolen rather than purchased. According to police, at approximately 7:10 p.m., officers from the Batavia Police Department responded to a report of an aggravated vehicular hijacking in the 300 block of Orion Road. The victim reported that a black and yellow Kawasaki motorcycle (Illinois plate MCYGM703) was stolen during a planned sales transaction arranged through Facebook Marketplace. An unidentified deceased man was found floating in the Fox River Wednesday morning, according to St. Charles police. At approximately 9:10am, the St. Charles Police and Fire Departments responded to the west side of the Fox River where they found the man floating in the river near the 200 block of North 2nd Street. After an initial investigation by the police, the body was transported to the Coroner’s Office for further investigation and identification. This story is developing.

According to the Kendall County State’s Attorney’s Office, additional charges have been filed against the suspect in Saturday’s alleged armed robbery in Oswego. In addition to the initial charges of of Armed Robbery and Armed Violence, the suspect is now charged with Aggravated Robbery, Robbery, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon, and Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon (possession of a firearm without a valid FOID card). A suspicious device located in a flower planter in downtown St. Charles resulted in the evacuation of nearby residences and businesses Saturday evening. According to police, at approximately 10:37pm the St. Charles Police Department received a report of a suspicious device located in a flower planter in the 200 block of West Main Street in the city’s busy downtown area. A 29-year-old man was found deceased in a Batavia resident early Saturday morning following a 9-1-1 call requesting emergency assistance. At approximately 3:52am Saturday, Batavia Police officers were dispatched to the 1100 block of East Wilson Street where they found a 27-year-old female exiting the residence with apparent injuries. Medical personnel were immediately requested. The female was transported by medics to a local hospital for treatment of serious injuries. An Elgin man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for repeatedly sexually assaulting a juvenile during a two-year period beginning in April 2022. The defendant, 26-year-old Juan Pop-Pana, had been convicted by a jury in September of Criminal Sexual Assault, a Class 1 felony; Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse of a Child, a Class 2 felony; and Intimidation, a Class 3 felony. A 60-year-old Waukegan man has been sentenced to 48 years in prison for repeatedly sexually assaulting an Aurora child over a three-year period beginning in 2006. On January 28 of this year, a jury convicted Glenn Wilson of Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault of a Child, a Class X felony (4 counts), and Criminal Sexual Assault, a Class 1 felony (4 counts). A 16-year-old male juvenile from Aurora with known gang affiliations was arrested following a foot pursuit that led to the recovery of a loaded handgun Sunday evening. According to Aurora police, at approximately 6:36pm investigators assigned to the Special Operations Group observed the juvenile illegally riding an electric scooter in the roadway near Front Street and Jefferson Street. Naperville police are investigating a shooting incident in downtown Naperville Friday evening. At approximately 7:55pm, officers on patrol in the downtown area heard what appeared to be gunshots coming from an alley near the 0–100 block of East Chicago Avenue. Officers immediately responded to the area and observed several juveniles fleeing the vicinity. During a search of the area, officers located evidence consistent with gunfire.
