Update: According to Village of Carpentersville President John Skillman, a child who was hospitalized following Sunday’s house fire has passed away. In all, three children, all under the age of 3, perished in the tragedy. Kane County Coroner Monica Silva stated that the identities of the children have not yet been confirmed. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, and Fire Chief Bill Anaszewicz indicated that it may take several weeks to make an official report. According to numerous news outlets, two children – described as “toddlers” – were tragically killed in a house fire in Carpentersville Sunday morning. Two other victims, including another a child, were hospitalized. Their condition is unknown at this time. A Yorkville man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison after entering into a plea agreement for sexually assauting his stepdaughter repeatedly over a period of roughly 8 years. The victim was under the age of 13 during most of the time the assaults were committed. Kendall County State’s Attorney Eric Weis announced yesterday that Rafael Sanchez of Yorkville had peaded guilty to the charge of Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault of a Child, a Class X felony. A 26-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman, both from Naperville, have been denied pre-trial release after being accused of robbing a Lisle convenience store at knifepoint and attempting to rob a woman at a Naperville bank Thursday evening.
