An Oswego teenager is dead after the vehicle he was driving caught fire after hitting a tree in unincorporated Oswego Friday evening. The Kendall County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident which occurred at approximately 8:51pm Friday evening on Minkler Road near the intersection with Reservation Road. The preliminary investigation indicated that a vehicle driven by 17-year-old Sean Fader of Oswego was traveling southbound on Minkler Road when the car left the roadway, striking a tree and catching fire. Geneva Police were notified by a Geneva middle school parent at 9:18am this morning about a gun threat being reposted via the Ring app. The department’s school resource officer was immediately notified and began steps to verify the threat. The Geneva Police Department subsequently determined the threat to be unsubstantiated. According to authorities within the St. Charles Police and Geneva Community Unit School District 304, today’s incident appears to be a repost of a threat made last school year – a threat that was thoroughly investigated and found to be a hoax. A new phone scam seems to be making the rounds in the Fox Valley involving thieves representing themselves as police officers. According to the Will County Sheriff’s Office, residents have been receiving calls from a “No Caller ID” and/or number 815-740-5552 wherein a man identifies himself as a Deputy or Sergeant from the Will County Sheriff’s Office and informs the victim that they have a warrant out for their arrest due to failing to appear in court for jury duty. A cash reward is now being offered for information leading to the arrest of a pair of suspects believed to be responsible for several recent burglary incidents in Naperville. According to Naperville police, there have been a series of incidents involving criminal damage/burglary in the 0-100 block of E.
