At a press conference yesterday Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie L. Mosser announced the formation of the Human Exploitation Unit (HEU), a specialized team dedicated to investigating and prosecuting human trafficking offenses, including sex and labor trafficking. The unit will operate within the office’s Criminal Division and will be overseen by First Assistant State’s Attorney Christine Bayer. The HEU is funded through a $1 million grant from the State of Illinois, secured with the support of State Senator Linda Holmes. Kanecountyconnects.com The National Weather Service (NWS) has completed its preliminary storm survey and determined that no tornadoes touched down in Kane County on Friday. Instead, damage across the area was caused by straight-line winds reaching 70 mph or greater. While most of the county experienced minor damage—such as downed trees and cosmetic building impacts—some locations, including Maple Park, Burlington, Virgil, Huntley and Hampshire, saw more significant but isolated damage. The City of Aurora will hold the Daniel D. Dolan St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Sunday, March 16th, from 11:00am to 12:00pm. It will step off at the corner of Water Street and Downer Place, head west on Downer, and end at Downer and Stolp Avenue.
