Elgin police officers arrested a 30-year-old Elgin man Wednesday evening after thwarting an alleged attempted armed robbery. EPD was dispatched to the 0-99 block of South State Street at approximately 9pm Wednessday for a report of a subject with a weapon and a possible attempted armed robbery. Upon arriving at the scene, officers immediately took the suspect into custody and recovered a firearm. An Aurora man was arrested Wednesday by Naperville police officers following a month-long investigation into alleged drug dealing in the Naperville area. During the afternoon hours Wednesday, Naperville police executed a search warrant at the suspect’s residence in the 2200 block of Ridge Avenue, Aurora. Several items of evidentiary value were recovered from the residence including a white powdery substance, which field-tested positive for the presence of cocaine, and packaging materials consistent with narcotics trafficking. A Batavia man has pleaded guilty to possessing and disseminating videos and still images of child pornography. David P. Winecke, 67, agreed to a sentence of six years of imprisonment in the Illinois Department of Corrections in exchange for a guilty plea to the offense of child pornography – disseminating, victim younger than 13, Class X felony. Judge Alice C.
