According to a press release from the City of St. Charles, Robert Gehm has been appointed Alderperson of Ward 3. Gehm replaces retiring Alderperson Todd Bancroft who did not seek reelection. Bancroft remained in the position until a replacement was qualified, following John Edward Frank’s withdrawal from the seat he won in the 2023 Consolidated Election. Daniel Aquirre of Aurora has been sentenced to 75 years in prison for the fatal shooting of 32-year-old Fernando Carapia in his driveway in January 2021. In April 2023, a jury found Aguirre, 25, guilty of the offense of first-degree murder in the shooting. In addition, the jury found that Aguirre personally fired the gun that killed Carapia. A 2-year-old Aurora child is listed in stable condition this evening after having been airlifted from Copley Hospital to Lurie’s Children’s Hospital in Chicago after being struck by a vehicle in Aurora Saturday afternoon. A 70-year-old man from Bloomingdale was killed yesterday when his motorcyle was struck head-on by a pickup truck on Route 38 in Geneva.   The preliminary investigation by the Geneva Police Department indicates that the deceased was traveling in the eastbound lanes of Route 38 when a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck traveling westbound veered into the eastbound lanes east of the intersection with Crissey Avenue and struck the motorcycle in a head-on collision.   The motorcyclist was transported to Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital by Geneva Fire Department personnel and pronounced deceased at 2:17 p.m. by hospital staff.    The Chevrolet…
