A 69-year-old Bartlett man has been found guilty but mentally ill in the stabbing death of his 93-year-old mother in 2019. Edward Mitzelfeld was found guilty but mentally ill by Judge Daniel Guerin following a seven-day-long bench trial that concluded on March 22, 2024. A 31-year-old St. Charles man was killed early this morning after he apparently lost control of his vehicle and crashed head-on into a utility pole on Route 64 near Campton Hills. At approximately 1:31am, the Kane County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to Route 64 at Anderson Road in St. Charles Township for a report of a single-vehicle, single-occupant head-on crash.
