46-year-old José L. Godinez of Aurora was sentenced in absentia today to 18 years in prison for sexually assaulting a child. Mr. Godinez was released from the Kane County jail in May of last year after posting $30,000 bond, and has not appeared in court since. He remains at large. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued long-waited guidance yesterday on the safety of pregnant women getting vaccinated for COVID. A North Aurora Police Department officer shot and killed a man who pointed a gun at him and his fellow officers late Tuesday evening. At 9:27 p.m., officers were dispatched to a residence in the 400 block of Pine Creek Drive after receiving calls about a male subject who was acting erratically. Naperville police identified and arrested a 29 year-old Naperville man in connection with a burglary in the 2900 block of Stonewater Drive in Naperville. On Tuesday, at approximately 4:36 p.m., Naperville Police Department officers and detectives responded to a report of a burglary in progress at the Stonewater address. Two Chicago brothers have been apprehended and charged with the murder of a Chicago police officer and the serious injury of her partner. A 21 year-old Chicago man is charged with first-degree murder in Saturday’s fatal shooting of 29-year-old officer Ella French, as well as attempted murder and other charges. His brother, 22, faces charges of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful use of a weapon by a felon and obstruction of justice.
