The Kane County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an incident involving the shooting of a dog in Wayne. On Tuesday, Hal Phipps, the husband of Wayne Village president Eileen Phipps, shot and killed Ludwig, a Dogo Argentinos belonging to Phipps’ neighbor, Joe Petit. Phipps claims that the dog was on his property and had attacked him previously. Petit denies that Ludwig was on Phipps’ property and that video surveillance cameras prove that (see below). Naper Settlement’s annual Naper Nights Community Concert Series continues with tributes to Dave Matthews Band, the Beach Boys, and more on August 13-14 from 5-10 p.m.  A variety of food, wine, and beer selections will be available at each concert.   August 13’s line-up includes performances by Gravity, a tribute to John Mayer at 6-7:30 p.m. and Trippin Billies, a Dave Matthews Band tribute from 8-10 p.m.  On August 14, Mellencougar will perform hits from John Mellencamp at 6-7:30 p.m., and Sounds of Summer will play a tribute to the Beach Boys from 8-10 p.m. Both concerts will open each night with local students from School of Rock playing their favorites on the Naper Nights stage from 5-5:40 p.m.   There will be a variety of eats, including vegetarian and gluten free…

The City of West Chicago has announced the return of its spectacular fireworks display on Saturday, Aug. 14. The fireworks show, which can be viewed at The Shell, will be the grand finale of Taco & Art Fest, a day-long celebration which starts at 3 p.m. at Reed-Keppler Park, 129 W.
