Naperville police are investigating an alleged armed robbery that took place at a local Subway Thursday evening. On Thursday at approximately 9:07 p.m., Naperville Police Department officers responded to the Subway at 2048 Aurora Avenue for a report of an armed robbery that had just occurred. Naperville police responded to what apparently were shots fired from a moving vehicle near 300 East Bailey in Naperville Wednesday evening. On Wednesday at approximately 9:33 p.m., Naperville Police Department officers responded to the 300 block of East Bailey for a report of shots fired. Arriving officers found multiple spent shell casings in a nearby parking lot. There were no injured people located after a search and canvass of the area. Three Fox Valley women, including two former postal carriers, are among seven individuals who have been charged in a financial crimes and money laundering scheme involving the United States Postal Service. According to a statement issued by DuPage County State’s Attorney’s office today, two women from Aurora, one of which was a postal carrier at the time, and one from Naperville, who was also a postal carrier, were the key players in the alleged crimes. Carol Swanson Glemza, 97, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2021. She began her St. Charles Park District career at a very early age, worked for 69 years and continued as a volunteer well into her retirement. She holds the record for the most years of service at the District as well as in the entire State of Illinois Parks and Recreation history. Glemza began working for the Park District in August of 1942, a few years after construction of the Pottawatomie Pool was completed.
