A Milwaukee man was charged with attempted murder and other charges resulting from a shooting at a New Year’s Eve party in Aurora. Kane County prosecutors allege that early Jan. 1, 2022, the 23 year-old suspect, who was attending a party in the 800 block of Huntington Drive, Aurora, fired multiple shots from a handgun at three victims, striking one victim in the arm. According to a message posted on the U-46 website this evening, 3 U-46 schools will be closed tomorrow. The three schools that will be closed include the following: Highland ElementaryHuff ElementaryParkwood Elementary All three were closed Tuesday. Superintendent Tony Sanders has indicated that school closing are due to staff shortages arising from COVID mitigation requirements. He has also indicated that the district is closely monitoring staffing levels and will likely need to close certain schools if circumstances warrant.

The Kane County Sheriff’s Office issued a statement today detailing two fleeing and eluding cases over New Year’s Eve and Day, while decrying a general disregard for law enforcement. According to the release, on December 31st at 2:06 AM, deputies attempted to stop a vehicle in the area of French Rd and Burlington Rd in Hampshire Township. The vehicle turned off its lights and accelerated away from the deputy at a high rate of speed.
