Elgin police officers responded Monday evening to a report of shots fired in the area of Park Street and Gifford Street in Elgin. At approximately 8:07pm on Monday, police arrived on the scene and were able to confirm that a shots fired incident had occurred. Police found an undisclosed amount of property damage from the gunshots. No injuries were reported. This is the 14th gunshot incident in Elgin this year. The U.S. Department of Energy’s Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory in Batavia is reopening to the public beginning March 28.  With the arrival of spring, the lab grounds will again be open to the public for outdoor activities, such as biking, hiking, running and viewing the bison herd. There will be only limited access to indoor areas at this time, as most public events and lectures will continue to be held virtually. An 18-year-old Batavia man was killed this morning as he apparently lost control of his vehicle on Route 25 and collided with a tree, according to a press release from the Kane County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO). William Marston was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The initial investigation by the KCSO indicated that Marston’s Volkswagen Jetta was traveling south on Route 25 between Bond Drive and Banbury Road in unincorporated Batavia and, for an unknown reason, left the roadway and struck a tree, killing Marston. The Kane County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a home invasion that occurred on Wednesday evening at approximately 9:54 PM in the 1600 block of Solfisburg Ave., unincorporated Aurora, IL, according to a press release from the Sheriff. Deputies responded to a 9-1-1 call from a resident that stated three Latino men forced their way into the home. The offenders wore masks and were armed with handguns.
