The Aurora police are attempting to locate a missing 17-year-old female juvenile. Ava Michelini was last seen on Saturday on the far east side of Aurora after being dropped off at a friend’s house. Ava left the friend’s house and is not responding to phone calls / messages. She was last believed to be in Elburn, IL but likely has left that area. If you see Ava, please call 9-1-1. If you have information on where she may be, please call the APD Investigations division at 630-256-5500.

A Naperville woman was shot in the leg on Chicago’s North Side Thursday, according to a Chicago Police Department report. The as yet unidentified 72-year-old woman was walking with her daughter and granddaughter in the 3100 block of North Broadway at about 1:35 p.m. when the daughter heard what she thought was a car backfiring and saw her mother, who was shot, fall to the ground, according to the report. A Batavia man was viciously slashed with a knife about his face and arm late Wednesday evening, causing severe injuries that required immediate medical attention. His alleged assailant, a family member, barricaded herself in a nearby residence until police negotiators from the Kane County S.W.A.T. team eventually established contact and convinced her to surrender to police peacefully. The suspect, identified as a 30-year-old female of the 0-99 block of Oak Terrace Court in Batavia, was placed under arrest. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital for advanced treatment. During the morning of April 26, 2018, Aurora resident Carlos Nunez was in a “jealous rage” at Jovita, his wife, believing she was being unfaithful to him. While she slept in an upstairs bedroom, Carlos retrieved a hammer from the garage, went upstairs and struck Jovita in the head multiple times. He then placed both hands around her neck and began to strangle her. He then tied a handkerchief around her neck until she stopped moving. Carlos then swallowed a large quantity of pain reliever tablets, started the gas on the kitchen stove and slashed his wrists in a suicide attempt.…
