Aurora Woman Killed In Car Crash Near Sugar Grove; DUI Suspected

An Aurora woman was killed Monday when the car she was a passenger in crashed into a utility pole near Sugar Grove.

Driver intoxication is suspected in the accident.

On Monday at approximately 3:50 PM, a Hyundai Genesis was traveling northbound on Ashe Road driven 39-year- old man from Oswego.  The driver lost control on the last curve before Jericho Road and left the roadway, striking a utility pole on the passenger side and shearing off both front and rear doors. .

The front seat passenger received severe, but not life-threatening injuries, but the rear seat passenger, Ma Cristina Cortes, 58, of Aurora, was killed in the collision.

The driver was subsequently charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and is currently held at the Kane County Jail awaiting bond call.
