Aurora Man Gets 100 Years In Prison For Breaking Into Woman’s Home, Sexually Assaulting Her

On the morning of March 23, 2018, Thaddeus Jones broke into a woman’s home in unincorporated Naperville, sexually assaulted her, and then forced her into her car to drive to her bank to withdraw money from her account.

Jones now faces 100 years in prison.

DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin announced today that Judge Michael Reidy has sentenced Jones, 26 to one hundred years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for the crime.

On April 14, 2023, a jury found Jones, formerly of Aurora, guilty of the crimes following approximately two hours of deliberations and a four-day-long trial in front of Judge Reidy. In all, the jury found Jones guilty of two counts of Home Invasion (Class X Felony), eight counts of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Assault (Class X Felony), two counts of Aggravated Kidnapping (Class X Felony), one count of Robbery (Class 2 Felony) and one count of Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle (Class 2 Felony).

“Make no mistake, Mr. Jones most certainly earned every single year of the one-hundred-year sentence handed down by Judge Reidy this afternoon,” Berlin said. “The vicious, violent attack and sexual assault Mr. Jones administered to this innocent woman will haunt her for the rest of her life. While the victim in this horrific case will never forget what happened to her, it is my sincerest hope that perhaps today’s one-hundred-year sentence will provide her with some measure of closure knowing the man responsible will never again pose a risk to society. I thank Assistant State’s Attorney’s Cathy DeLaMar, Michael Fisher and Christina Kye for their efforts in securing this well-deserved sentence.”

Jones will be eligible for parole in 2096.
