4 FOR THE WEEKEND
where the days get shorta and da nights get long.
So let’s get to it, starting with…..
Pumpkins, Pumpkins Everywhere
(We won’t mention spice. We won’t mention spice. We won’t…)
More farm festival fun, this time at Aurora’s Abbey Farms.
Great place for the kiddies, but be aware: the Corn Maze in this place is something out of Stephen King. We sent a staffer in there last fall and he didn’t show up until Easter.
(The fact that he returned wearing a huge Gumby costume was also a little weird, come to think of it.)
Anyway, you have been warned.

Beer, Glorious Beer
Now that the kiddies are out of the way…
We gotta admit, we still haven’t gigged with the whole craft beer thing. We mean, sure, it’s great that every Tom, Dick and Mary can throw some hops in their bathtub and create a new brew, but jeez, how many ways can you re-create something as inherently divine as beer?
(You do know that beer was drunk in place of water back in the old, old days, right? Because water was so yucky? In our view, progress stopped when that tradition lost favor.)
Anyway, this still sounds like a fun event. We’re gonna bring our own 6-pack of PBR, however.

Al Capone, Call Your Office
So this one is a little off the beaten path, we know.
But that’s why you love us so much, right? Where else would you find this kind of nugget?
A history walk in lovely downtown St. Charles sounds like the perfect afternoon, particularly if you finish it off with the party at the Arcada at the end.
Given that it focuses on the Roaring 20s, there’s also a kind of apocalyptic feel to it, a sense of impending doom. (For those of you who slept through history class, we’re referring to what immediately followed the Roaring 20s – the Great Depression and a World War.)
Sheesh. You people.

And Finally…
Oopa!
We don’t know about you, but we think Greek food is to die for.
And there’s plenty to go around at the Aurora Greek Fest this weekend.
And don’t forget to bring your Windex…
(Surely our highly-sophisticated readership knows that reference? Right?)

We’ve given up on predicting the weather. The Weather Channel is always wrong. You’re on your own, folks.
If, for whatever reason, none of our fabulous four events doesn’t pop your cork, we’ll be very insulted. However, all hope is not lost. Simply go to www.foxvalleymagazine.com and check out our A+E and Events sections for other ideas.
Finally, please do us a favor. We would be eternally grateful if you could share this with some of your unsuspecting family, friends and neighbors. We’d also appreciate some love on our Facebook page (see below). Ok, technically it’s a “LIKE,” but don’t be pedantic. Also, that’s actually two favors. We’ll owe you.
Thanks for reading. Until next time…OH! One more thing. If you’re reading this via the website and would like to have this emailed to you bright and early every Friday morning, please SUBSCRIBE!
