4 FOR THE WEEKEND
where Memorial Day is a day of remembrance of those who have given the last, full measure of devotion. No joke.
So let’s get to it, starting with…..
We Know It When We See It
We’ll be honest.
We have never been able to draw, paint or otherwise create anything visual that didn’t look like the dog’s lunch. It is just not in us.
On the other hand, we appreciate those who can. Well, appreciate may be too strong a word. Envy, bitterly resent…those might be closer to the truth.
Regardless, get on our to St. Charles this weekend and check out their annual Fine Arts Show.

We Love A Parade, Part I
Obviously, this being Memorial Day weekend, we’re going to focus the rest of this enewsletter on memorial events.
One we’d highly recommend is the Aurora Memorial Day Parade, which returns after a three-year absence.
As a cool twist, the Grand Marshals of the parade this year will be Class of 2022 enlistees into the United States Armed Forces. That’s righteous.

We Love A Parade, Part II
Naperville always has a fantastic Memorial Day lineup.
It’s parade is billed one of the largest in the Upper Midwest.
(Who determines these things? Presumably somebody without a life. But we digress…)
But there are multiple ceremonies throughout the morning, so check the schedule.

And Finally…
Of all the communities in the Fox Valley, we think Elgin comes closest to truly capturing the essence of the day.
The official events are all actual memorial services.
Of the four listed, the last – at Bluff Cemetery – is probably the most moving.
But don’t take our word for it. The services are spaced out such that you can take them all in – well, at least 3 of 4. Seems like an appropriate was to spend that morning.

It looks like it’s going to be a glorious Memorial Day weekend. Other than some rain and clouds Friday, the rest of the weekend looks sunny and increasingly warm, with highs on Memorial Day expecting to bump up against 90. As ever, plan accordingly.
If, for whatever reason, none of our fabulous four events doesn’t pop your cork, we’ll be very insulted. However, all hope is not lost. Simply go to www.foxvalleymagazine.com and check out our A+E and Events sections for other ideas.
Finally, please do us a favor. We would be eternally grateful if you could share this with some of your unsuspecting family, friends and neighbors. We’d also appreciate some love on our Facebook page (see below). Ok, technically it’s a “LIKE,” but don’t be pedantic. Also, that’s actually two favors. We’ll owe you.
Thanks for reading. Until next time…OH! One more thing. If you’re reading this via the website and would like to have this emailed to you bright and early every Friday morning, please SUBSCRIBE!
