A man is in critical condition after being shot early this morning on Aurora’s west side. At approximately 3:24am, Aurora police officers responded to a report of shots fired in the area of River Street and Sard Avenue. In addition to multiple 911 calls, a ShotSpotter alert indicated gunfire in the area. Responding officers located an adult male on the Gilman Trail with a lower body gunshot wound. An update from the Batavia Police Department regarding the alleged hit-and-run incident yesterday morning indicates that, using security cameras in the area, officers were able to identify a suspect vehicle. The Batavia Police Department has issued a request for the public’s assistance in identifying the vehicle and/or driver implicated in a hit-and-run early this morning which resulted in injuries to the victim. According to Batavia police, this morning at approximately 5:34am a vehicle struck a pedestrian in a marked crosswalk and fled the scene without stopping. A 27-year-old Elgin man was killed last Wednesday when his motorcycle was struck by an SUV in St. Charles. The driver of the SUV allegedly left the scene of the accident before authorities could arrive. On Wednesday at approximately 8:52pm, the St. Charles Police and Fire Departments were dispatched to the intersection of Country Club Road and North 5th Avenue for a traffic crash involving injuries. According to the Aurora Fire Department, approximately 30 gallons of concentrated bleach was accidently spilled on Aurora’s northeast side this morning. At around 10:25am, firefighters responded to a hazardous materials incident in the 2700 block of Beverly Drive involving a punctured container of concentrated bleach inside a semi-trailer. Approximately 30 gallons leaked, with some entering nearby storm drains. Fire crews quickly contained the spill and recovered the material from catch basins. A domestic altercation in West Chicago Thursday evening escalated to the point where SWAT and crisis negotiators were required to persuade a gun-brandishing resident to exit his home. According to West Chicago Police, at approximately 9:05pm, officers were dispatched to a residence in the 1000 block of Allen Avenue following reports of an altercation occurring outside. Officers learned that during the dispute, a 25-year-old male had allegedly brandished a firearm before entering his home. A 23-year-old Aurora man is in custody after a shooting incident on Aurora’s east side Wednesday evening. According to police, at approximately 8:27pm officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert indicating multiple rounds had been fired near the 400 block of Jackson Street. Upon arrival, officers confirmed evidence of gunfire and began canvassing the area. Officers quickly developed information indicating that an individual discharged a firearm into the ground before entering a nearby residence.
