Last Friday, we posted the story below, which indicated that the Kane County Health Department had initiated a two week “adaptive pause” at District 300’s Hampshire High School. After posting the article, we received numerous comments to the effect that KCHD had not required the pause, but that the district’s superintendent had made that decision on its own. Hal Phipps, husband of Wayne Village President Eileen Phipps, was not charged in the shooting death of Ludwig, a Dogo Argentina owned by Wayne resident Joe Petit, Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie Mosser announced today at a press conference. In a roughly 20 minute presentation, Kane County Sherriff Ron Hain laid out the evidence that had been obtained during the weeks-long investigation by his office, including the enhanced surveillance video from Petit’s home that gave a partial picture of what happened during the incident.
