According to a press release from the City of Geneva, 13 cars were discovered burglarized this morning, primarily in the Fisher Farms subdivision. Geneva Police officers responded to reports of car burglaries at the following locations: In what appears to be a related incident, Kane County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a suspicious man near their headquarters on Route 38 in unincorporated Kane County and arrested him on unrelated charges. After suffering a destructive fire in July, one of Geneva’s staple restaurants, Stockholm’s, is re-opening today at 11am. Police are investigating the death of an Aurora woman who was fatally struck by a pickup truck near downtown Aurora Thursday evening. According to a press release from the Aurora Police Department, at approximately 5:46pm Thursday the APD and Aurora Fire Department responded to the intersection of East New York Street and West Park Place for a reported vehicle versus pedestrian crash, where they found a 72-year-old woman suffering from serious injuries. Elgin police are investigating three unrelated shootings the took place between Friday and Saturday evening. Two of the incidents resulted in the victim’s hospitalization. Elgin has now experienced 55 gunfire incidents during 2024, only 11 short of the record of 66 set in 2016. A 26-year-old West Chicago man was denied pre-trial release after being charged with supplying fentanyl to a woman who susequently died in an overdose. An Elgin man is in custody after allegedly attacking a juvenile who was using the football field behind Thompson Middle School in St. Charles.
