A 54-year-old Aurora man has received what is effectively a life sentence in prison after being found guilty of multiple counts of child sexual abuse and pornography. Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie L. Mosser announced yesterday that Judge David Kliment sentenced Ronald J. Lye to 109 years of imprisonment in the Illinois Department of Corrections. The West Chicago Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying and locating a suspect in an armed robbery that took place last Tuesday. According to police, at 11:34am, officers responded to Amigo Discount, located at 543 Main Street in West Chicago, for a reported armed robbery. Officers were informed that the suspect had fled the scene and a search of the area yielded negative results. Below are images taken of the suspect. Current DuPage County Sheriff James Mendrick announced Thursday that he is running for Governor of Illinois. An 84-year-old Montgomery man has been detained after having admitted to the sexual abuse of children over a 15-year period. Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie L. Mosser and Montgomery Chief of Police Phil Smith announced yesterday that Judge Salvatore LoPiccolo has granted the State’s motion to deny pretrial release for the suspect, who is charged with 23 counts of Criminal Sexual Assault, a Class 1 Felony, and 67 counts of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse, Class 2 Felony. The Kane County SWAT team was called in early Wednesday morning to secure the arrest of a St. Charles man accused of stabbing his friend. At approximately 12:58am, St. Charles Police Officers were dispatched to the 3800 block of Chesapeake Road in St. Charles where a man was said to be heard yelling for help. Officers located a male victim who was bleeding significantly from a wound to one of his arms. A tourniquet was applied, and the St. Charles Fire Department was immediately requested to the scene.
