Update: 19-year-old Kevin White of St. Charles, who was seriously injured during a violent crash in St. Charles Tuesday afternoon, died of his wounds Tuesday evening, according to a release from the Kane County Sheriff’s Office. Business advisor Catalina Lauf has won the GOP primary for the 11th Congressional District, according to projections. She will take on incumbent Rep Bill Foster in the general election in November. Lauf is a business advisor to a healthcare start-up and was a Presidential political appointee at the U.S. Department of Commerce, working on small-business initiatives, Tax Cuts and Jobs Act and pro-growth policies. Born and raised in Woodstock, Lauf is the daughter of an immigrant from Latin America and an Illinois-raised small businessman.
According to a statement from the city of St. Charles, the fire at the former Pheasant Run Resort in St. Charles was extinguished on Sunday, although a single fire unit remained on station to control a few remaining hot spots. The damage from the fire was extensive. The main lobby of the resort was destroyed, as were Bourbon Street, and three full wings of hotel rooms.
