The 27-year-old man killed in an officer-related shooting has been identified by the Kane County Coroner’s Office as Temesgen Welendreyas of Aurora, Illinois. Welendreyas’ body was transported to the Kane County Morgue Wednesday afternoon, where an autopsy was conducted on Friday. The preliminary cause of death is attributed to gunshot wounds. Toxicology samples have been collected and sent for further forensic analysis. The Kane County Coroner’s Office is collaborating with the Fox Valley Major Crimes Task Force as it continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death. A homeless man was arrested Wednesday after brandishing a gun on Elgin’s northeast side. At 4:10pm Elgin police officers responded to the 300 block of Purdue Lane after a report of a man brandishing a weapon. Two teenage males, ages 17 and 15, are in custody after being arrested for the alleged sexual assault of a female acquaintance in the bathroom of a Naperville Walgreens. DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin and Naperville Chief of Police Jason Arres announced today that the two teens, both from Lisle, have been charged with multiple counts of sexual assault. Oswego police continue to investigate a robbery of a local fast-food restaurant on Route 34 early Friday morning. According to police, at approximately 5:54am officers responded to a report of a burglary that had already occurred at the Burger King location in the 2300 block of Route 34. An 18-year-old Aurora man has been sentenced to 6 years in prison following a narcotics and firearms investigation in the 1200 block of Gates Street in Aurora that resulted in the seizure of illegal drugs and multiple weapons, including a fully automatic firearm.
