Firefighters successfully extricated the driver of a vehicle that had slid off a driveway, overturned and settled upside down in a creek in Elgin Thursday morning. At approximately 9:09am on Thursday, the Pingree Grove & Countryside Fire Protection District responded to the 9N600 block of Kendall Road after a report of a vehicle leaving a driveway and overturning into a creek. A 23-year-old Aurora man has been sentenced to the 38 years in prison for brutally stabbing his mother to death in 2022. Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie L. Mosser announced yesterday that Abel Quinones-Herstad has agreed to a sentence of 38 years of imprisonment in exchange for a guilty plea to the offense of first-degree murder, a class M felony. A 44-year-old United States Customs and Border Protection officer from Pingree Grove has been indicted in US District Court on allegations that in 2022 he sexually assaulted and robbed multiple women in Schaumburg and Naperville. The indictment, which was unsealed Tuesday in US District Court in Chicago, charges the suspect with ten counts of deprivation of civil rights under color of law and one count of brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence. A 49-year-old man who was pumping gas at an Aurora gas station in the early hours of Monday morning was shot multiple times by an unknown gunman who immediately fled the scene. At approximately 3:44am, Aurora Police officers responded to a report of a gunshot victim at the Mobil gas station located at 300 South Broadway, where they found the victim suffering from multiple upper-body gunshot wounds. A Skokie man pleaded guilty yesterday to supplying fentanyl to a West Chicago woman who subsequently overdosed and died. DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin announced that 31-year-old Benjamin Adrien entered a plea of guilty to one count of Drug Induced Homicide, a Class X Felony. A Naperville city contractor who was removing snow from the Metra station Monday evening was tragically killed when a freight train hit his equipment. Naperville Police and Fire Departments responded to the Naperville Train Station at 105 East 4th Avenue Friday evening following reports of an incident involving a train and an individual.
