Update: The identities of two South Elgin High School students killed in a tragic car accident Thursday have been released by authorities after being withheld pending notification of kin. Kammora Campbell, a 17-year-old student from Bartlett, and Talulay Henry, a 16-year-old student from Elgin, were the victims of the accident that occured Thursday morning at the intersection of Illinois Route 25 and Keynon Road. Police believe that the accident was a result of the driver of a 2002 Honda Civic failed to yield while making a left turn off IL Route 25 to Kenyon Road. Both drivers survived the accident.…

A Waterman man apparently couldn’t wait to reach a passing zone on Route 30 in Big Rock Saturday evening. As a result, he and the two people riding the motorcyle he hit head-on are dead. According to the Kane County Sheriff’s office, on Saturday evening at approximately 9:28pm a gray Honda Civic driven by 55-year-old Jaime Bibiano of Waterman was travelling westbound on US Route 30 from Davis Road in Big Rock. Pop phenom Taylor Swift is coming to Batavia. Well, to the silver screen in Batavia at least. The recently-opened Emagine Batavia theatre, which boasts the larget movie screen in Illinois, will present the film “Taylor Swift: Eras Tour” starting Friday, Oct. 13, according to a press release. The concert film will be in theaters for a limited time only. An Aurora man has been sentenced to six years in prison after being found guilty of driving under the influence causing death. On December 13, 2020, at about 6 p.m., 38-year old Gustavo Gutierrez Aguilar was driving a 2007 Ford Mustang in the vicinity of Mountain Street and Austin Avenue in Aurora Township when his car struck a tree. Lazaro Rosas-Garcia, 29, a front-seat passenger, was unconscious and not breathing when first responders arrived. He was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital a short time later. A Batavia man is in custody after allegedly running over his cat with a car multiple times until the cat was deceased. On Friday, August 4, 2023, Batavia Police received a call from a business in the 900 block of West Wilson Street concerning a dead cat found in its dumpster. A person at the business had reviewed its video surveillance footage which showed an individual running over the cat several times with a motor vehicle, then placing the cat into the dumpster. Buffett passed away last night at his home “surrounded by his family, friends, music and dogs.” He was 76 years old. Following the August 15 robbery of a PNC branch in the 600 block of Summit Avenue, two additional bank branches in Elgin have been robbed in the last three days. On Thursday just after 4pm, police were called to the Elgin State Bank located at 50 Tyler Creek Plaza for a report of a bank robbery. After a preliminary investigation, it was determined that no money was taken, no weapon was involved and no injuries were reported. This incident remains under investigation. The Federal Bureau of Investigations announced yesterday that they have apprehended a suspect in the robbery of a PNC Bank branch in Elgin. The suspect, a 30-year-old Elgin man, has been charged in federal court with robbing the branch in the 800 block of Summit Street in Elgin on August 15, 2023. He was arrested on Tuesday. He remains detained in federal custody pending a detention hearing before U.S. Magistrate Judge Young B. Kim at 11:30 a.m., today.
