Kane County has been ranked as one of the top 20 counties in the nation in the July 2023 issue of Site Selection magazine. Kane County came in #14 on the list, along with Cook (#2), DuPage (#9) and Will (#16) Counties. Illinois was the only state with four or more contiguous counties making the list. A Chicago man out on probation for gun charges was arrested by Naperville police and had bond set at $1 million by a DuPage County judge Friday. DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin and Naperville Chief of Police Jason Arres issued a press release saying that bond has been set for a Chicago man accused of illegally possessing a loaded firearm. A Geneva man has been sentenced to ten years in prison for crashing his vehicle into two pedestrians in Aurora, killing one, while intoxicated. Nicholas Roepke, 20, appeared at his sentencing hearing Thursday morning where Judge Michael Reidy handed down the sentence. On March 16, 2023, Roepke entered a blind plea of guilty to one count of Aggravated DUI Causing Death (Class 2 Felony) and one count of Aggravated DUI Causing Great Bodily Harm (Class 4 Felony). A 26-year-old Naperville Man accused of leaving the scene after fatally striking a bicyclist with his vehicle had his bond set at $500,000 during a bond hearing this morning. The accused is charged with one count of Failure to Report an Accident Involving Death, a Class 1 Felony.
