Aurora police are searching for a man in connection with a shooting Wednesday afternoon onn the city’s Near East side. At 4:53PM Wednesday, APD Telecom dispatched officers to the 700-800 block of Fifth Street after receiving several 9-1-1 calls for shots fired in the area. Officers located evidence of a shooting and began speaking with witnesses. A vehicle parked in the area occupied by several people had been struck by gunfire, causing a vehicle window to shatter. One of the vehicle occupants sustained minor injuries from shattered glass. AFD Medics treated the person for the minor injuries on scene. Witnesses…

The stars were out Wednesday in South Elgin as the Boys & Girls Club celebrated the opening of its 5000th facility. Denzel Washington, longtime national spokesperson for the organization and former member, stopped by to tell his story of how the organzation affected his life and lives across the country. “We’re investing in our future here,” he said. Three Cook County men have been accused of burglarizing an elderly couple’s residence home using a “contaminated water” ruse in Naperville. According to a joint press release from the Dupage County State’s Attorney’s Office and the Naperville Police Department, on Monday, April 10, at approximately 4:38 p.m., officers were dispatched to a residence on Waxwing Avenue for a report of a residential ruse burglary that had just occurred.
