According to a report from WFIE News in Evansville, Indiana, an Elgin woman is in custody on drug and child neglect charges after passing out in an Evansville hotel room while her young child wandered the hotel hallways.
According to the report, police indicated that the incident occured Monday at the Clarion Inn on East Indiana Street in Evansville.
The suspect, a 25-year-old Elgin woman, was allegedly found unconscious on the floor of one of the hotel rooms. After making several unsuccessful attempts to awaken the woman, police finally brought her back to consciousness only to find a “white powdery substance in her mouth” as well as pills and marijuana on the floor.
According to the report, the suspect was taken to the hospital, where she allegedly tested positive for Benzodiazepines, Amphetamine, Marijuana, Methamphetamine, and Opioids.
She was subsequently arrested and taken to jail. The fate of her child was not reported.
