An Aurora man was shot and killed just after midnight Monday on Aurora’s far west side. At 12:16 A.M. Monday morning, Aurora Police received several 911 calls reference multiple shots fired, and a person shot in the 2300 block of Candleberry Lane. Officers located a 36-year-old Aurora man, Isaiah Ayala, inside a residence suffering from gunshot wounds. Aurora Fire Department paramedics transported Ayala to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later. Ayala’s death is being investigated as a homicide. The rider of a motorcycle who was killed when his vehicle was struck by a Chevy van in Batavia Sunday evening has been identified. According to the Kane County Coroner’s Office, the deceased man is 61-year-old Jeffrey Smith of West Chicago. The preliminary cause of death was multiple injuries due to a motor vehicle collision. Toxicology samples were collected and sent to a forensic lab for analysis.
